Start here: do you have 240V outdoors?

Answer this before you fall for either one. It settles the question faster than any spec sheet.

The Eclipse Portable runs on a 220-240V supply. That is not a standard patio outlet. If your deck doesn't already have a 240V circuit within reach, adding one is licensed electrical work: an electrician, a permit, and a cost that isn't in the product price.

The Tungsten Portable uses no electricity at all. It runs on a 20 lb propane tank or natural gas, and it's ordered in whichever of the two you already have on site.

Have 240V outdoors already? Both are open to you. Don't? The Tungsten is the one you can use this weekend.

Two things buyers underestimate

Weight. The Eclipse is 383 lb. Our own product page says it does not go up or down steps without proper equipment and more than one person. If it lives in one spot, that's fine. If you picture moving it seasonally, it matters. The Tungsten is 124 lb.

Which chore you'd rather own. Neither is maintenance-free. The Tungsten trades a propane swap every eight hours or so for being able to go anywhere on the property. The Eclipse trades a one-time electrical job for never thinking about fuel again. That's a preference, not a right answer.

Where these actually get used

Restaurant and hotel terraces stretching the shoulder season. Residential decks where running gas or a 240V circuit isn't worth the trouble. Cottages and rental properties where the heat moves with the season. Event spaces heated only when they're booked.

Operators tend to split by site rather than by preference: the Eclipse where the fit-out is already electrical and the lighting earns its keep, the Tungsten where heat has to move between zones.
