Can I use a Bromic Eclipse on an enclosed or screened porch?
Yes, and this is where the Eclipse earns its place. Electric infrared produces no combustion byproducts, so it needs no ventilation. A gas heater on an enclosed patio needs a large part of the wall left open. If you have screened or closed your patio in, the Eclipse is the heater that still works.
Does the Bromic Eclipse give heat and light at the same time?
Yes, and each is controlled on its own. Heat runs at 33, 66 or 100 percent. The warm white LED dims separately down to 1 percent steps on the remote. Run light with no heat on a mild night, or full heat with the light low after dinner.
Should I get the Eclipse pendant or the freestanding Eclipse?
The pendant mounts to the ceiling and includes a 24 inch twin pole, hardwired by an electrician, and it is the tidy built-in option. The freestanding rolls in on a weighted base, plugs in with nothing to install, and comes with the dimmer and remote in the box. Choose freestanding if you rent, cannot mount, or want it stored over winter. Note the freestanding base is heavy, 383 lb, built so it cannot tip.
How high should the Eclipse pendant be mounted?
Minimum 96 inches of floor clearance, and 8 to 10 feet above the finished floor is the sweet spot. Higher than that and the heat spreads too thin to feel on a cold night. It ships with a 24 inch twin pole, and five other pole designs are available for different ceiling heights.
Does the Eclipse need an electrician, or does it plug in?
It depends which one. The pendant is hardwired, so a licensed electrician installs it, and you confirm the circuit first as it draws roughly 11 to 14 amps depending on voltage. The freestanding version plugs into a suitable outlet with nothing to install, so no electrician, just check the outlet and circuit in the manual before ordering.
What is the best Bromic heater for a screened porch or three-season room?
The Eclipse. It is electric, so there is no combustion and no ventilation needed, and it gives heat and light from one fixture, which suits an enclosed space where you do not want two separate fittings.
